The Electronic Patient Record (EPR) programme welcomes two new appointments to senior leadership team

Jonathan Hinchliffe – EPR Senior Responsible Officer

As part of his Group Executive role, Chief Transformation and Innovation Officer (Interim), Jonathan has executive responsibility for the delivery of Digital Services, strategic transformation and innovation across all three trusts and the implementation of the integrated Electronic Patient Record.

Jonathan is highly experienced and knowledgeable to leading in this role having been the NHSE Digital delivery subject matter expert and formerly the Digital Director at Manchester University Foundation Trust delivering transformational change, digital services and EPR implementation, previously working on the best in class ‘Manchester Hive (Epic)’ EPR programme.

Jonathan said:

“Delivering an integrated Electronic Patient Record across Great Western Hospitals, Salisbury Foundation Trust and Royal United Hospitals presents a unique and first of type opportunity to transform the way we provide care for our patients. With an integrated EPR we can operate as a group and better meet the needs of our patients, service users and colleagues.

"The EPR enables clinical transformation, not just in a technology sense, it transforms our workforce and the processes we base the delivery of our pathways and services on. We will digitalise the care record, enable care to move closer to home where appropriately with hospital to community provision and through a value-based healthcare approach be integrated and proactive in our care delivery. This is in line with the NHS vision, NHS England’s Ten-Year Plan and which enables the BSW Hospitals Group to be operationally fit and sustainable for the future.”

Claire joins from her role in Accenture and brings vast experience and knowledge of leading EPR programmes similar to ours of complexity and multi-Trust deployment including Royal Surrey County Hospital and Airedale NHS Foundation Trust. Claire has experience working supplier side for Cerner/Oracle Health and led on the massive single instance roll out within Queensland, Australia, across their public health hospitals and services.

Claire comments:

“I’m excited to lead the BSW team through its implementation of a new, shared electronic patient record. A programme such as this is complex but will bring many benefits to staff and patients alike. I look forward to working with our talented teams throughout the journey.”
